Sri. Ramamurthy shares his experience with Sri MahaPeriyava. He hails from ‘Aanathandavapuram’ also known as Aanandha-thandava-puram which is 5 kilometers from Mayavaram and it is one among the 18 Vathima gramam. On a special note, this subsect has been ardent devotees of the SriMatam and has utmost devotion towards Sri MahaPeriyava.
Coming back to mama’s episode, upon hearing his experience one will come to know the importance of our Culture, tradition and Bhakthi that one should have for their parents.
Once, Sri MahaPeriyava had ordered his father [mama’s father] to go back to his village and do ‘Sis’rushai’ to his father and also blessed him with HIS Sri Padhukai. The pious man immediately obliged and had gone back to his ancestral village to take care of his father.
Through this incident Sri MahaPeriyava is insisting the importance of Mathru and Pithru bhakthi to all the devotees. The same is insisted by Sri Sivan SAR in Yenipadigalil Mandhargal through the saying ‘Petroruku Annam idathavan Papi.’
It does not end there; from this episode we can also understand the importance of ‘Shraadham. It is the duty of a son to do ‘Sis’rushai’ to his parents when they are alive and after their demise it is a must that he should also feed his parents by performing ‘Shraadham.’
When mama got his first job after completing his graduation, as usual, he had gone to seek the blessings of Sri Mahaperiyava. The Sarvagyan after patiently hearing to his words explained him the importance of ‘Sudhdham’, blessed him abundantly and told him that ‘You should be honest and upright just like your grandfather Subramanya Iyer’.
This had a hard hit in his mind and did not give up even during his tough times. Again, this reminds us of Sri Sivan SAR’s punchline in Yenipadigalil Mandhargal ‘Absolute honesty is Spirituality’.
Smt. Mohanambal Ramamurthy also shares her experience with Sri Mahaperiyava. Mama and mami got married at the age of 13 and 9 respectively and her description brings the visual image of the incidents that happened during those days. The old and pious couple are quietly doing the anushatam and living vedic way of life at their ancestral place where Sri Mahaperiyava did Sri Chandramouleeswarar poojai.
