Periyava Puranam offers our Shraddhanjali to Dr Veezhinathan (Veezhi Mama).

Professor N. Veezhinathan, former Head of the Sanskrit Department at the University of Madras and father of Professor V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, attained the lotus feet of Sri MahaPeriyava this morning at 11:00 am in Chennai.

As we all know, Mama was a devoted disciple of Sri Matam and had a close relationship with all three Acharyas throughout his life. His interviews in Periyava Puranam are true treasures for future generations.

Upon hearing the news, I immediately went to Mama’s house, where many people had gathered to pay their respects. Among the crowd, I heard Professor Kamakoti (Veezhi Mama’s son) calling out to me, “Sivarama, Sivarama…”. He shared…

In his final hours, the doctor advised me to ensure Appa heard what was closest to his heart. I played his Periyava Puranam videos for him. Appa departed while listening to his experiences with Sri MahaPeriyava.

I gave Sri Sivan SAR Vibudhi Prasadam to Kamakoti, who said, “You are Appa’s favorite, so please go ahead and place it on his forehead… and I will do it along with you.” I offered Sri SAR Prasadam.

While we all wish our loved ones could stay with us longer, there are blessed souls who many wish could stay forever. Mama was one such blessed soul. He continues to live on, and Periyava Puranam will be one of the avenues through which his legacy endures.

I am eternally grateful to Sri MahaPeriyava and Sri Sivan SAR for blessing me with “PERIYAVA PURANAM,” which continuously touches me both emotionally and philosophically.
