Maraimalai Adigal was a tamil scholar and an inspiring personality for those involved in so called ‘dravidian movements’ in Tamilnadu. His son-in-law, Sri Avudaiyaar was in HRMC at that time… (HRMC is a Government department for managing Hindu Temples).
Sri Kannan Mama approached him requesting him regarding a work related to Sri Matam…
Sri Avudaiyaar was thinking, ‘Sri Matam’ has so many assets and properties then what? Why do they need help?’ – apparently, he was reluctant to do some work told by Periyava, though Sri MGR & Sri Rm.V (HRMC Minister) were waiting to do anything and everything Periyava said.
However, Sri Avudaiyaar did the works indicated by Periyava. During those times, his mind used to linger between the thoughts of so called ‘dravidian movements’, religion and Periyava. He got promoted in due course and moved to Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was comfortable with his new promotion that came due to the reservation system. Things were fine until…
There were lot of commotion at Sri Lanka. Bomb blasts, blood shed, etc. Living in Sri Lanka became very difficult due to the increasing conflicts. Sri Avudaiyaar was continuing his job as a Government Servant. One day he had a darshan of Periyava in Sri Lanka…
Periyava has never crossed the sea. Sri Avudaiyaar had a dream but it cannot be a dream, as it seemed so real! Periyava asked him to leave the city in his dream. It was so real that he implemented it. He left out of his house with his family. On the very same day, his house was shattered into pieces due to bombing. Yes! There was a bombing on his home where he stayed with his family.
Shattered! His home was shattered! His pseudo belief on so called ‘dravidian movement’ was shattered! The lingering disbelief in his mind was shattered! In essence, his ajnanam shattered! Oh! What an experience! Escaping so narrowly from a death en masse! He quickly contacted Sri Kannan Mama, his known contact in Sri Matam and expressed his desire, (that was intense by then), to have darshan of Periyava…
He came to India later. Obviously his first priority was to have darshan of Periyava. He rushed to Periyava who rushed to save him from the disaster. Had the darshan with his family, shed tears! Shed his pseudo secularity! Shed his ego! Shed everything that prevented him to get closer to the Almighty: Periyava!
Periyava never acknowledged what he did but generally inquired about his family, as if nothing happened. Also asked him…
“உங்க மாமா கம்ப ராமாயணத்தை பத்தி நெறைய எழுதி இருக்காரோ…” (Has your uncle written a lot about Kamba Ramayanam?). Sri Avudayaar was touched hearing about the works of Sri Maraimalai Adigalon Srimad Kamba Ramayanam. (Periayava is an expert in diverting the attention from those miracles!)
Sri Avudaiyaar was drenched with Periyava’s blessings and he left. Later, he passed an order to his subordinate in his department that, “if Sri Kannan Mama comes to see him, he has to be informed immediately irrespective of any meetings”.
Today’s Nectar :
Sri Sivan Sar says in YPM that Thuravi will not prove to those with disbelief and also wrote that Thuravi will not clarify those with belief. What to do? Ho Periyava! Ho Saar! Our prayers to your lotus feet. When will our ajnanam shatter? When are we going to be drenched in your bhakthi? Ram. Ram.
