Vaideeka Series – on one side, it fills us all with emotions seeing how Periyava had lived all HIS life for Vedham and on the other side, it sure puts us all in guilt giving room to introspect on how we have been taking it all for granted.

Experience of Sri Jayarama Sastrigal

Sri Jayarama Sastrigal was born in 1932 in Thanjavur. He shares his experience with Sri MahaPeriyava.

• Garland to Periyava: He was blessed to adorn Periyava with a big garland
• Nayana Deekshai : He asked Periyava, “எனக்கு எதாவாது அனுக்ரகம் பண்ணுங்கோளேன்” (Shower me anugraham). He asked Periyava “எனக்கு ஞானம் வேணும்” (i want Gyanam). Periyava stared at him from head to toe. Sastrigal mama says, HIS eyes starring at him made his body feel like burning in fire.
• Periyava Walking: Mama talks about Periyava’s walking speed and is at awe on how Periyava can remove His Padhugai from both legs at the same time and wear it at the same time.
• Periyava Complexion: “குங்கும பூ அரைச்சு பூசினா அதுக்கு கலர் குறைச்சல்” (If we grind saffron into paste, its color would be lesser than Periyava). தங்கத்துக்கு ஒலி குறைச்சல் (The shine of gold is less than Periyava’s shine)
• Periyava – Epitome of Modesty & Humility: எனக்கு தபஸ் போறல. எனக்கு தபஸ் இருந்தா, இந்த குடுமி பஞ்சகச்சம் எப்போதுமே இருக்கும். எனக்கு தபஸ் போறல . Periyava : ” If I had enough Thapas, the temporary kudumi and panchagacham you all are wearing would be permanent and not temporary during my visit. It shows I don’t have enough Thapas.”
• Periyava Shawl: Mama is blessed with Shawl by Periyava in Gulbarga. புழுவ கூட மதிக்கற குணம் பெரியவாளுக்கு , says mama
